How did you transition from music to fashion?
We don’t look at it like we transitioned from music to fashion, we have incorporated fashion into our creative outlet and are using fashion as one of the many ways we express ourselves creatively. Music, fashion, film and photography are foundational to what Early Morning Rebel is.
What was the inspiration for the first EMR collection?
Our inspiration was classic American biker, greaser with a bit of refinement mixed with some rock’n’roll and simplicity. It was important to us to have an artisan feel to each piece, but be extremely well made.
Do you draw on influence from the LA or London fashion scene? How do the two compare?
There is a huge difference between the LA and London fashion scenes. London is a more stylish city in certain regards. LA is very influenced by the beach culture. We gravitate towards the biker/gangster and low rider aesthetic in LA, but can’t help be swayed by the beauty of the beach and the beach culture. As far as the fashion scene goes, LA doesn’t have as much as the vibrant young designer and risk taking that London has. We are very inspired by the artistry and forward thinking of the London fashion scene.

We try to make music that we would listen to, and the same goes with our collection. We want to make clothes that we will wear and that we want.
It’s been a few weeks since the collection launch during LC:M, how was the event and how has the reaction been?
LC:M was great. We are always humbled when anyone likes anything we do. We never know how anyone is going to react or respond, so when we get positive feedback, its always an inspiration and affirmation that we are doing something right. Most of all it was very fulfilling to have created something we were proud of and share it.
You’re set to show more pieces during London Fashion Week, what can we expect to see?
At this point, your guess is as good as mine … I guess it will just have to be a surprise.
